Mrkopalj is a town and a mountain municipality in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and has about 755 inhabitants. In addition to mountain tourism, the locals are engaged in forestry and agriculture. It is located at an altitude of 820 meters and is a favourite destination for recreationists, athletes and lovers of untouched nature.

The town of Mrkopalj abounds in beautiful locations, but the entire region is also full of beautiful forest areas. Some of the unmissable locations are Lokvarka and Vrbovsko and Delnice, where you can visit the ice rink during the winter. The Čelimbaša ski resort is only 5 kilometres away by car, and numerous hiking and biking trails are in the immediate vicinity. We also recommend visiting the charming town of Fužine, where you can walk along the wonderful path that surrounds Lake Bajer, and the Vrelo cave is also nearby.
