Pazin, a charming little town is called “The heart of Istria” due to its central position. It is also the administrative center of the Istria County and counts around 9000 inhabitants. Built in the Middle Ages as a fortified settlement, the town continued to grow around the castle's walls which remains the cultural center of Pazin.
THINGS TO DO NEARBY
After exploring the lovely Pazin center, we advise you to rent bicycles and explore the area. Istria is full of biking trails allowing you to experience this wonderful region from a unique perspective. The central part of the peninsula is also worldwide known for the forests in the river Mirna valley, due to the wealth of black and white truffles the grow there. A truffle hunting excursion is always a good idea, and we recommend finishing the day with some wine tasting in one of numerous Istrian wineries.
