Even though a small village, Vabriga is one of those places that really does keep the tradition alive. Olive growing goes as far back to the Roman times, wineries in the area are the best in Istria, and the fishing is done the same way over the last millennium. Situated on the mouth of the river Mirna into the Adriatic, its stone streets and hidden corners tell many, almost forgotten stories.

Once you’re done exploring the surroundings, a boat excursion is a must. The bay of Vabriga already offers many secluded bays and hidden caves, but Istria’s western coastline is a place you should visit from the sea. You will get to experience a land decorated with colorful towns and deep bays in a completely different way. A visit to the national park Brijuni, archipelago of 14 islands, will whisk you away to a whole new world. Since the park is not populated, deers can be seen walking on the green fields and dolphins swimming around the islets. Known as Tito’s private island, all the villas on the island Veliki Brijun were built for his personal needs.
